Alexa is a painting inspired by a brief relationship I had with a girl, Alexa. I created the painting by applying twenty-two color variations in multiple layers with small dot-like strokes. The colors surround a central swirl figure of some kind. When I completed the painting, a friend asked me, “What does it mean?” Baffled, I realized it had no meaning. I painted it mindlessly. I later attributed its many colors to the beauty of my relationship with Alexa and the generally complex character of how our relationship ended.
